The Soke, London
Towards the end of 2020 Fosbery Studio delivered two of our large Iron bronze Brooklyn chandeliers to a new health and wellbeing centre in west London. The striking open plan lobby is filled with natural light from the original ornate windows that wrap around the two main walls with a pallet of soft neutrals and buffs accented with dark bronze and blacks. The room is zoned into two main seating areas, using the two silhouettes of the Brooklyn chandelier with its huge circular outline in the centre of each zone. Large comfortable seating is arranged below the chandeliers making a very large open space feel intimate and comfortable. The interior is designed by the interior design practice, Covet & Noir, which, in less than two years, has gained a reputation for excellence and recently was listed as one of the “10 British interior designer to know right now” by Elle Decoration.
This beautiful interior is the lobby for a new mental health and well being centre on Fulham Road, London. Soke, is a modern practice, seeking to change the traditional formal approach to mental health treatment. The informal and welcoming lobby sets the tone for the practice’s holistic approach to address their clients health and wellbeing needs.
Soke’s interior has been curated sensitively using antiques, mixed with modern timeless design pieces. This approach works beautifully with Fosbery Studio's ethos. We seek to create unique pieces, made with skill and care.
Ensuring the best materials are used and that the design is considered and resolved, being honest to the materials they are made from.
Brooklyn Chandelier inspiration
It was a huge privilege therefore to have a pair of Brooklyn chandeliers positioned in the main lobby of Soke as the feature pendants. The Brooklyn has been designed to make connections to the industrial appearance of a steel girder, rolled into a ring and suspended via cast brass hooks. The LED filament lamps are an excellent example of a modern (LED) light source produced to imitate a classic filament lamp. The light is warm, can be dimmed and adds interest to the room. The large 900mm diameter of the Brooklyn light fills a space but does not obstruct the view through the room or hang imposingly. It has been used to great effect in the Soke lobby and we are thrilled to be part of this exciting project.
